ULFA Chairman ready for talks with India

New Delhi: ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa is a founder of the United Liberation Front of Asom. Wednesday he has been arrested by the Bangladeshi authorities, says he is ready for talks with the Indian Government. Even as the ULFA top brass remains reluctant about brokering peace with the Government, Rajkhowa is expected to be flown in from Bangladesh. Arabinda Rajkhowa is expected to make a political statement soon, paving the way for initiating peace talks between New Delhi and the ULFA. Rajkhowa, who was arrested in Chittagong on Monday night by the Rapid Action Battalion, is expected to be handed over to Indian security forces. Sources have told CNN-IBN that Rajkhowa, along with ULFA Spokesperson Apurba Bora, will be flown into New Delhi in a special flight of the Border Security Force. This comes against the backdrop of Home
Minister P Chidambaram's statement in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that the ULFA may soon issue a political statement and if they offer talks, the Centre would be willing though the ULFA will first have to abjure violence.
The National Security Advisor had also said on Wednesday that the ULFA chairman had in all probability surrendered.
All this has led many to believe that the stage is being prepared for the peace process in Assam to begin once again. ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa has been arrested by the Bangladeshi authorities, says he is ready for talks with the Indian Government.
